Alun Armstrong, born in Annfield Plain, County Durham, England, is an actor. He portrays Baltus Hafez in the second film of the The Mummy trilogy.

Armstrong's mother and father were from County Durham and Cumberland, respectively, and Armstrong is the father of fellow actor Joe Armstrong. Armstrong attended Consett Grammar School while in County Durham. Along with a career in film, Armstrong has appeared onstage as well as on television, and he spent nine years with the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford upon Avon, earning six nominations for the Laurence Olivier Award, winning in 1994 for Best Actor in a Musical.
