This woman was the mother of Rick O'Connell and the wife of Jack O'Connell.

After Jack O'Connell had accepted his fate as a Medjai upon receiving the tattoo that branded him as such, he left Mrs. O'Connell and their son Rick. Shortly after, Mrs. O'Connell died of unknown causes shortly after Jack left the family, leaving her son to be sent to various orphanages.
